MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – An MTA employee was punched in the face on a subway platform at Union Square, according to the NYPD.
The attack happened just after 10 a.m. on a northbound 4 train platform, police said. The MTA worker was punched in the face by a male and taken to an area hospital, police said.
One person was in custody related to the attack, according to police.
Subway safety for riders and workers has been a main priority this year for Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul, who in March announced cameras would be installed in every conductor cabin.
In April, an MTA worker was punched after waking a man on a Queens subway and just before that, an MTA worker was hit in the face with a glass bottle in the Bronx.
