Monsoon sporadic, but 6-month cumulative rainfall normal in DK

MANGALURU: Though the

monsoon

in Dakshina Kannada district has been

sporadic

and uneven, the cumulative rainfall has been normal from January 1 till date. While the normal average rainfall is 1170mm for the first six months, the actual rainfall has been 1185mm till June 30.

All the taluks of

DK District

have received normal rainfall, barring Moodbidri taluk which has received 134 mm of excess rainfall during the six months.
From April till June end, nine lives have been lost with Ullal accounting for five, Kadaba three and Mangaluru reporting one loss of life.

The district recorded 249 houses being damaged in rains from April, with eight being fully damaged, 39 severely and 202 partially. Infrastructure damage included 2546 electricity poles, 45 transformers and 127 km of supply lines from April.
