Minister inspects Chennai’s Nemmeli desalination plant before its inauguration

inspected the 150 MLD Nemmeli

desalination plant

on Saturday morning.
Chennai Metrowater officials said the Rs1516.82crore desalination plant is expected to be inaugurated and operated in its full capacity before Pongal this year.
This is the third desalination plant in Chennai after the 100 MLD plant in Minjur and the 110 MLD plant in Nemmeli.

Around nine lakh people in South Chennai and suburbs, including those on the OMR and the Radial Road, will get the desalinated water from the new plant.
