NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) -- Mayor Adams addressed the FBI raid on two Bronx homes owned by one of his top aides Winnie Greco on PIX11 Morning News on Friday.
The mayor shared that Winnie Greco is on "sick leave" and more would be determined after she returns. During the raid, Greco had a medical episode and was taken to a hospital for treatment, sources said.
Once Greco returns from sick leave, she can use her vacation time or personal time while the inquiry is conducted or take unpaid leave, Adams said.
An FBI spokesperson confirmed that agents conducted the raids on Thursday at two Bronx addresses, owned by Greco, a former fundraiser for Adams who now serves as his director of Asian affairs, the Associated Press reported. It is unclear if the raid is connected to Adams.
A City Hall spokesperson shared Greco was placed on administrative leave Thursday. Greco has worked closely with Adams for over a decade, serving as his conduit to the city’s Asian-American communities.
Greco is at least the third aide to Adams whose home has been targeted by federal agents. In November, the FBI raided the home of Brianna Suggs, a top fundraiser for Adams, and Rana Abbasova, who worked in the mayor’s international affairs office. Four days later, agents quietly seized the mayor’s cellphones and an iPad as he was leaving an event in Manhattan.
