Mary-Margaret
Humes
wishes
Katie Holmes
, her Dawson's Creek co-star, a very happy birthday!
"In a
muffin-filled
world... "You are one sparkly cupcake!!!" the former TV mom, 69, began in an Instagram tribute to
Holmes
, who celebrated her 45th birthday on Monday. "Happy Birthday, dear @katieholmes!" We adore you a great deal #tvfamily #foreverfriends #dawsonscreek."
Humes posted two photos of the ladies together on his Instagram.
The first was a vintage photo of them sitting together, smiling and gazing at a cupcake with a single candle on top.
The second photo appeared to be more recent, showing the couple laughing over a glass of wine.
"Thank you so much! "You are always so kind!" the Batman Begins actress commented on the post.
Holmes and Humes starred in the teen drama series Capeside, Massachusetts, which followed a group of friends living in a fictional town. From January 1998 to May 2003, the show aired.
The hit show also starred James
Van Der Beek
as Dawson Leery, Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley, Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter, and
Kerr Smith
as Jack McPhee. Humes portrayed Dawson's mother, Gail, and Holmes portrayed his friend, Joey Potter.
Van Der Beek, 46, revealed in March that Humes is still a big part of his life, especially on his birthdays.
"Every year since my mother died, [Humes] makes me cookies and sends them to me on my birthday," he captioned a video on his Instagram Story at the time. "I have the best TV momma on the planet."
In the touching video, he asks his children, "OK guys, what do we have?" "From Margaret, every year, on my birthday."
Later that month, Humes attended Holmes' off-Broadway performance of The Wanderers.
"Thank you @thereal_margaretmaryhumes and @johnwesleyshippjr for your support and love!" the Alone Together actress wrote on her Instagram Story, alongside John Wesley Shipp, who played Humes' Dawson's Creek TV husband Mitch Leery, and friend JC Alvarez.
Humes revealed whether or not fans would ever see the Capeside residents together on television again during ATX TV's Mother Knows Best: A Look at '90s TV Moms panel in March 2021.
"There has been a secret text message going around among all we actors," she went on to say. "Katie Holmes and I have discussed it extensively. "I discussed it with James Van Der Beek."
"I actually wrote like, 190 pages of an idea for a crossover to a reboot," Humes went on to say. "I'm not sure if it will go anywhere." But there's certainly a lot of buzz about it."
