Manoj Bajpayee
received applause for his three remarkable performances in '
Gulmohar
', '
Sirf Ek Banda
', and '
Joram
'. The actor created history as 'Sirf Ek Banda' became the first movie to be released in theaters after a successful run on OTT.
Talking about the same, Manoj said that what is remarkable for him is that within one year, people saw him playing a character who comes from a privileged class (Gulmohar), a middle class (Sirf Ek Banda), and a completely downtrodden (Joram) class. That’s his achievement. Showing that every human (from every class) is conflicted and vulnerable and that everyone is having their struggles was fulfilling for him as an actor. He got to see the audience appreciating his performance in that they could relate to him in all those characters. That’s a compliment for him. He also said that his takeaway is the education that he got during the making of those characters.
Bajpayee explained that it could be through the conversation he had had with his director or during his research for the role. For example, when he was doing 'Joram', he got to understand people living on the margins and what displacement does to a person. How one small crime turns into a blunder. He got to learn so many other things a marginalized person goes through.
The actor concluded by saying that just because the audience likes a certain kind of film, it does not mean we should stop releasing films like 'Joram' in theatres. We should do it practically with limited screens and use word of mouth to publicize it.
