WAKEFIELD, The Bronx (PIX11) -- Residents of the Wakefield section of the Bronx are on high alert as police are looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a 20-year-old female inside of her home.
The NYPD released a surveillance video of the suspect.
“As a female, I don’t want to hear that around this area; it’s crazy. So, how did he get into her house?” said resident Latifah.
Authorities told PIX11 News that the perpetrator broke through a window. According to police sources, the victim was asleep, and the man performed “a sex act.”
“I hope whoever did it, whoever is responsible for it, is actually caught and put away because it is not safe for us,” Shanon Swaby said.
It happened Saturday, around 4:30 a.m., near East 230 Street and White Plains Road.
A neighborhood long-time residents said is changing and not for the better.
“I’ve been living for over 30 years, and there are lots of negative changes. Things I don’t feel comfortable,” said a resident who did not want to be identified.
Officials said the suspect ran away once he committed the crime. The victim was taken to an area hospital.
