EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – A man pleaded guilty to fatally shooting a 14-year-old boy and injuring a 15-year-old boy in East Harlem in 2022, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg.

Justin Streeter and the other boy were walking out of a deli in East Harlem on July 19, 2022 when 19-year-old Jiniye Hooks allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot at them multiple times, according to authorities. Hooks is accused of shooting Streeter in the back of the head as the boys tried to run away, causing Streeter to fall to the ground, officials said.

Hooks also allegedly shot the 15-year-old boy with Streeter in the left leg, but the boy was able to get to safety in a building lobby, according to authorities. Streeter was pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.
