Man dies in Hampton Bays after swimming incident: police

HAMPTON BAYS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A man died after swimming in Hampton Bays Monday afternoon, according to the Southampton Town Police Department.

Police received a call of a drowning victim at around 2:52 p.m.

The swimmer, identified as Peter Dzakonski, 54, of Hampton Bays, was removed from the water by another beachgoer, police said. CPR was administered and he was taken to a hospital for further medical treatment.

Police say Dzakonski was pronounced dead at the hospital.

A second man at the scene experienced chest pain and difficulty breathing and was also taken to the hospital for further treatment, police said.
