MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- Police are searching for an alleged subway shooter who fired multiple rounds in a Manhattan train station last month, according to the NYPD.
The man was trying to open the subway doors when he pointed the gun in the air and fired one shot aboard the A train in the West 168th Street-Saint Nicholas Avenue subway station in Washington Heights at around 9:35 p.m. on Oct. 22, police said.
The suspect then got off the A train and headed to the No. 1 train platform where he allegedly fired another round, according to the NYPD. He then escaped on the northbound No. 1 train.
There were no injuries in either shooting, police said.
There have been no arrests.
Over the summer, the city tested new gun detector scanners at around 20 subway stations. According to the NYPD, out of the 2,700 scans, no guns were detected, but twelve knives were flagged.
There were 118 false positives, which equates to a rate of 4.3% or one out of every 23 people. False positive reports led to people being detained and searched by police, only to reveal there were no weapons.
