Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan, often referred to as "mama ji" by his supporters, in an ode to them, gave a special name to his new residence.
Shivraj Chouhan is BJP MLA from Budhni seat and the longest-serving chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.
Popularly known as "Mama" by his supporters, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has named his new residence 'Mama ka Ghar' (maternal uncle's home). Even as the 65-year-old BJP MLA from Budhni stepped down from the state's top post and handed over the baton to Mohan Yadav, it is clear that Chouhan rules the hearts of lakhs as a brother and uncle.
Chouhan is the longest-serving chief minister of the state. In December 2013, Chouhan was sworn in for his third term and in March 2020, Chouhan took oath as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the fourth time.
In his latest ode to his followers, the BJP legislator has named his new residence 'Mama ka Ghar'. Taking to X, he wrote, "The address has changed, but "Mama's house" is still Mama's house. I will remain connected to you like a brother and uncle. The doors of my house will always be open for you."
"Whenever you miss me or need me, feel free to come home, after all this is your uncle and brother's house," he shared.
Even though Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stepped down from the CM's chair, he has not stepped back from being a "mama" to his people. Chouhan is lovingly referred to as "mama" by the people of Madhya Pradesh.
Chouhan defeated his Congress rival and TV actor Vikram Mastal Sharma by 1,04,974 votes from Budhni in Assembly elections in 2023. The BJP beat anti-incumbency in Madhya Pradesh by winning 163 seats in the election for the 230-member Assembly.
After the poll results were out and Mohan Yadav was picked as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Chouhan had changed his X bio to 'bhai aur mama' (brother and maternal uncle) along with 'Former Chief Minister, Madhya Pradesh'.
"The position of uncle and brother is bigger than any other position in the world. There is nothing over it," Chouhan had said at the time.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan's women-centric schemes along with the Prime Minister's 'Modi ki Guarantee and Amit Shah's strategy are said to have worked for the BJP in the state to wipe out anti-incumbency waves, if any.
