Long Island man killed in crash on Southern State Parkway: police

BABYLON, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Long Island man was killed in a crash on the Southern State Parkway after his SUV was hit by a car driving at a high speed Sunday night, police said.

The crash happened on the Southern State Parkway near exit 39S in the Town of Babylon in Suffolk County around 10:30 p.m., according to New York State Police.

A Honda Civic traveling at a high speed hit a Honda CRV driven by 49-year-old West Babylon resident Ronaldo Collado, police said. The crash caused both vehicles to leave the road and come to a stop in the tree line, according to police.

Collado died at the scene. The driver of the Honda Civic and four passengers in the Honda CRV were all hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. New York State Police is asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call 631-756-3300.

A separate crash in West Babylon over the weekend killed a teenager and left another on life support.
