LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A Long Island couple is facing drugs and weapons charges after their 14-month-old son died of a suspected overdose earlier this month, authorities said Thursday.
Wilkens Adonis and Daryllee Leibrock, both 38, allegedly had drugs in the bedroom of their Hollbrook home where the toddler, Joseph Adonis, was found unresponsive on the morning of Jan. 3, prosecutors said. The boy was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
Investigators found a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, over cocaine, alprazolam, drug packaging materials, two digital scales used to weigh drugs, an electronic stun gun, a loaded shotgun, and a rifle in the home, officials said.
Authorities believed the boy overdosed based on toxicology reports showing he had cocaine, fentanyl, and morphine in his blood, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office.
Adonis and Leibrock were arraigned on a slew of charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Leibrcok is also accused of violating orders of protection because she was prohibited from being around the toddler and her 11-year-old child at the time of the incident, prosecutors said.
The couple also had an open drug case when they were arrested, according to authorities.
