CARLE PLACE, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Long Island Rail Road train hit a man who possibly fell asleep and had his legs dangling over the platform Thursday night, police said.
The incident happened at the Carle Place train station around 11:45 p.m., according to the MTA Police Department.
An eastbound LIRR train hit a 23-year-old man who was sitting on the platform with his legs hovering over the tracks, police said.
Witnesses said the man may have fallen asleep. He had been drinking with co-workers prior to the incident, police said.
The man was hospitalized with injuries to both legs and was expected to survive, police said.
The incident did not disrupt train service, according to police.
