A tourist opted to drive his Mahindra Thar SUV through the Chandra River in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul Valley to beat the traffic jam amid Christmas festivities on Monday evening. However, the tourist’s act drew criticism from locals. A video of the tourists act is now going viral on social media. Last evening, significant traffic congestion occurred at multiple points along the Lahaul to Manali route. Manali, the popular tourist destination in the Kullu district, is currently attracting a multitude of visitors who are eager to celebrate Christmas and experience the snowfall in the Lahaul Valley. Officials reported that over the past three days, approximately 55,000 vehicles traversed the Atal tunnel in Rohtang, connecting Kullu, Lahaul, and Spiti. Numerous videos circulating on social media depict an extensive lineup of vehicles on the roads.
