In Udaipur vlog, YouTuber records man catcalling his Russian wife, confronts him

An Indian YouTuber has alleged that his Russian wife was harassed while they were filming a travel vlog in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. The incident, which he documented on video and later posted online, has led to an outcry and calls for police action.

Mithilesh Backpacker, who has over a million subscribers on YouTube, was capturing moments with his family during their visit to the City Palace in Udaipur when the alleged incident occurred. According to him, a group of three to four men followed and taunted them; one man then made a sexually-coloured remark directed at his wife, Lisa.

The vlogger lost his cool and immediately confronted the catcaller. In the video posted on his YouTube channel, Mithilesh is seen threatening to call the police, while the accused initially denies making any inappropriate comments.

Mithilesh claimed that despite several people witnessing the incident, no one intervened to support him. He further alleged that the City Palace security, instead of assisting him, urged him to drop the matter after the accused offered a seemingly insincere apology.

“I had my two-year-old son with me, and I didn’t want to escalate things by fighting, so I asked for security,” he said in the video.

The video of the confrontation, uploaded to YouTube on January 3 this year, has since gone viral, sparking outrage among social media users, who raised concerns about the safety of foreign tourists in India.

Mithilesh, who had travelled to Udaipur after visiting destinations like Lakshadweep, Andaman, Delhi, Mumbai, and Goa, said he hopes the authorities take strict action to prevent such incidents in the future.

“I’m promoting Indian tourism, showing how beautiful and safe the country is, but incidents like this are disappointing,” Mithilesh said in his video.
