Do you know a friend or cousin working at Apple? Be nice to them, because they may be able to get you a 25 per cent discount on the purchase of the Apple Vision Pro headset. Apple employees were recently sent a memo by the company which said that they will be eligible for a 25 per cent discount on the purchase of the Apple Vision Pro headset, according to a report by Bloomberg. It’s quite usual for Apple to offer such discounts on its new products to its employees.

In the past, Apple has offered up to 50 per cent discount on its products like Apple and HomePod. However, considering the exorbitant price tag of $3500 or about Rs 2,90,000 for the Vision Pro headset, the 25 per cent discount is also quite considerable. We’ll do the math for you. After the 25 per cent discount, the Vision Pro headset’s price will come down to $2624, which is about Rs 2,17,000.

As per the report, every three years, Apple workers receive a $500 allowance applicable towards the purchase of a Mac. This time, this $500 credit is also applicable for the Vision Pro, and Apple intends to compensate employees for any expenses incurred in obtaining necessary prescription lenses for the headset. Once again, if you have a friend or cousin living in the US, who works for Apple, make nice with them immediately, because that’s another approximately Rs 41,000 discount. Which brings the price of the Vision Pro headset down to Rs 1,76,000, which is almost the price of a MacBook.

The Apple Vision Pro headset will be available for pre-order in the US starting today, January 19. The headset is scheduled to go on sale two weeks later on February 2. As of now, there is no news on when the Vision Pro headset will be available in India, but a few analyst reports suggest that Apple will make the headset available in markets outside of the US at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2024 in June.

Apple recently also previewed the entertainment experience for the Vision Pro headset, that essentially revealed the content that will be available on the headsets. As per the announcement, Apple TV+ and Disney+ movies and shows will be available on the Vision Pro headset. However, several reports today have revealed that content platforms like Netflix, YouTube and Spotify will not be supported on the Vision Pro headset.
