An Anganwadi worker was allegedly thrashed after some children of the Anganwadi centre plucked flowers from a neighbour's house in Belagavi, Karnataka.

Sugandha More, 50, a helper at the Anganwadi centre, was allegedly thrashed by the owner of the house from where the flowers were plucked. The incident took place on Monday, January 1.

Furious over what the children did, Kalyani, the house owner, thrashed Sugandha and even mutilated her nose. She has been hospitalised and is in critical condition. Visuals of the injury show the extent of the assault by the neighbour.

This incident was reported in the home district of the Women and Child Development Minister in the Karnataka Cabinet, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, in Basurte village of Belgavi.

A case has been filed at Kakati police station. Police are on the lookout for the accused, who has not yet been apprehended.
