(SYL) canal. The next hearing in the apex court is scheduled for January 4, 2024.
“The court had assigned the responsibility to the secretary ministry of Jal Shakti to work out an amicable solution to the vexed problem with the chief secretaries of both the states.

The secretary tried by involving both Punjab and Haryana but nothing could happen on the count. Then the court asked the minister to intervene and reach to some solution and find out the exact on ground situation on the matter. I tried and held a meeting with Chief Ministers of both the states at Chandigarh on December 28. Punjab has told that a receiver was appointed a long back on the issue and there is status quo for long on the status of SYL. The court will be apprised about the outcome of the meeting”, said union jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat while speaking to media persons at AIIMS Bathinda on Saturday. As Punjab Chief Minister tried to emotionally exploit the sentiments of the people by raising the name of Bhagat Singh, it should have been avoided. He also stated that the statement made by BJP Punjab President on the issue might be as per the information he has but I will not discuss either to authenticate or challenge that statement. He said in last 10 years of BJP rile Punjab got opportunity for 7 times while my Rajasthan got opportunity only on three terms and there is no interference of central government at any levels.
On the query about alliance between SAD-BJP, Shekhawat said that as of now there are no talks about alliance at any levels. BJP is capable and preparing to contest and win all 13 seats in the name of PM Narendra Modi though the possibility of anything could never be ruled out in politics.

He also accused Punjab government of have failing in providing congenial atmosphere for industrial growth and central government is ready to support for cooperative federalism as team India.
