This year, when
Jab We Met
was re-released in cinemas, most shows were sold out. Fans keep organising
Tamasha
and Rockstar meet-ups. What does
Imtiaz Ali
feel makes those
characters
still relevant? Imtiaz says, "I feel that all characters of all stories are relevant at any other time. Just the circumstances will change. Maybe
Geet
will not be going on the train, or maybe she will, but it will be different.
But that feeling - 'Mujhe lag hai mere train chhoot rahi hai.' Some people have this feeling that I'm missing out on something, and that's what gives them that nervous energy. That will never change. Similarly, somebody wants a tragedy in life because he thinks that's how he will become great. That will never change. That stupidity will never change."
But isn't that stupidity so real?
Imtiaz says, "I think it's stupidity, but yes, that stupidity is the most real thing in our lives because these are the things that are innate - silliness, idiocy, or immaturity of a person. That's what sets him apart from other people.
Jordan
is silly, and Geet is silly, but it's their silliness that defines them, not their maturity. When Aditya does a stupid thing, that's when you recognise him. Before that, he's just a suit. I feel that not that we should try to be stupid, but that we should accept it."
