EDISON, N.J. (PIX11) -- Seven juveniles were arrested after a massive brawl broke out at the Menlo Park Mall Saturday evening, according to Edison officials.

Police responded to a report of around 100 juveniles causing a disturbance at the mall around 8:09 p.m., officials said. In a matter of minutes, the crowd grew to around 300.

Investigations determined that none of the arrestees were from Edison, but from surrounding towns, including Fords, Woodbridge, Hillsborough, New Brunswick, Linden, and Port Reading.

“This behavior will not be tolerated in Edison Township," said Mayor Samip Joshi. "We will ensure that Edison remains a safe community for all residents and visitors alike.”

In response, officials and lawmakers demand that Menlo Park Mall and Simon Properties install additional surveillance cameras throughout the mall. They also want to significantly increase the security presence, particularly during weekends and peak hours.

Edison Police received mutual aid from several police departments, including Woodbridge, New Brunswick, Carteret, Metuchen, Piscataway, Cranbury, South Plainfield, Highland Park, and New Jersey State Police.
