Human remains found in abandoned camp on Long Island: police

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Human skeletal remains were found under a tent of an abandoned encampment in the woods on Long Island, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The skeletal remains were found on Friday at 1:45 p.m. after a 911 call reported possible human remains in a wooden area southwest of Peninsula Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue, authorities report.
The remains were removed and brought to the Medical Examiner’s office for examination. The investigation remains ongoing.
