, first

hurled abuses

at the cops and then thrashed them with sticks in the middle of the road, a senior police officer said. An FIR has been filed and cops are trying to trace the accused.
Around 12.30am on Sunday, three personnel — Satyendra Kumar, who is in charge of the emergency response vehicle of Badshapur police station, homeguard Boota Singh and special police officer Satbeer Singh, reached Kehar Singh Chowk in Sector 70A for patrolling.

They spotted three vehicles parked on the roadside with a few men drinking alcohol in the open.
“The youngsters were drunk and creating a ruckus in the middle of the night. We asked them to stop drinking and go home. When I asked them to leave, they started hurling abuses at me,” said Kumar.

“When I asked them to behave, they pulled out sticks from the boot of their vehicles and attacked all three of us. They didn’t give us a chance to counter and thrashed us. The men also kept threatening to kill us if we ever tried to stop them again from doing what they wanted, be it drinking on the roads or making noise in public,” he added.
The group allegedly fled in their cars after beating up the trio. One of the cops man-aged to note down the registration number of one of the vehicles. They were admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment at present.

After Kumar filed a complaint at Badshapur police station, police filed an FIR against the accused, who are yet to be identified under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“We are trying to trace the vehicle with the help of the registration number noted by one of our officers. The injured personnel are in a stable condition at present,” police spokesperson Subhash Boken said.
