Panaji:State Pollution Under Control
(PUC) centres will undergo significant changes starting April 1, 2025 as per recommendations from the state govt's advisory committee on
PUC centres
.
One of the major changes is the
revised fee structure
for PUC certificates. For Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMV), the fee will be Rs 300, comprising a PUC fee of Rs 212, a department of transport fee of Rs 70, a Goa Electronics Ltd fee of Rs 15, and Rs 3 as GST. For commercial light motor vehicles, the PUC fee is Rs 200, while non-commercial light motor vehicles will incur a fee of Rs 140. Commercial two-wheelers and three-wheelers will be charged Rs 160, and non-commercial two/three-wheelers will be charged Rs 100.
These revised fees aim to standardise the process and ensure environmental compliance. To maintain quality control, stricter qualification standards have been implemented for technicians working at PUC centres. At least one staff member must now possess a recognised technical qualification, such as a diploma in engineering or an ITI certification in relevant fields.
The validity of the letter of authority (LoA) required to operate a PUC centre has been extended from one year to three years. The renewal fee remains unchanged at Rs 15,000.
