Google has rolled out new features in Gmail to enhance the online shopping experience. These include a delivery filter, comprehensive package tracking and easier access to return policies.
It's that time of the year when people love to go shopping. Shopping for self-care, gifting and festive celebration. However, with the surge of online purchases during busy holiday months, tracking all those orders can be a hassle. So, in order to ease this burden and make last-minute gift hunts smoother, Google has launched a set of new features specifically for Gmail users, enhancing their holiday shopping experience online.
Delivery filter option
Understanding the urgency of last-minute gifting, Google has rolled out a "Get it by Dec 24" filter for U.S. shoppers. The feature is developed to help shoppers filter their searches and identify products that can be delivered swiftly. The feature is available for both the mobile and desktop versions of Gmail.
To use the feature, Gmail users can simply select the filter to see items available for pickup at nearby stores or eligible for swift shipping, along with details on the merchant's fastest and most affordable delivery option.
Package tracking in Gmail
In addition to its delivery filters, Gmail is now also offering users a more comprehensive package tracking experience. Important delivery updates will be displayed within shopping emails, visible in both the inbox list view and on individual emails across both mobile and desktop devices.
Additionally, Gmail will also prioritise emails containing package tracking information, ensuring that users can get information about any changes to their delivery dates quickly. Users can enable or disable this feature at any time through the settings in Gmail.
Return policy access
The third feature for Gmail is making it easier for users to access merchant return policies. In Gmail, once a package arrives, the platform will send its users a convenient link to the merchant's return guidelines at the top of shopping-related emails, both on the desktop and mobile. In addition, Gmail will also highlight the return policies across Google Search, offering users insights such as "free 90-day returns" on product listings or merchant links during the shopping process.
With the inclusion of these new features in Gmail, Google is aiming to streamline users' shopping experience, enabling online shoppers to stay updated on package deliveries and access return information effortlessly. Notably, these features are being rolled out exclusively for Gmail users in the US this month. To activate them, simply head to your Gmail settings and flip the switch on package tracking and return policy links.
Meanwhile, following Google’s plans to update its entire product line, it is expected that Google will soon introduce these features for users in other regions in the coming months.
