WESTCHESTER, N.Y. (PIX11) – An anonymous tip led to the arrest of a woman accused of abandoning a Labrador retriever puppy on a Westchester County road, according to the SPCA.
And now, the dog has been adopted by the good Samaritan that saved her.
The SPCA posted a video of a woman, identified by SPCA as Marissa Levy, stopping her car in New Rochelle on June 11, letting the dog out, then driving away.
Now, Levy has been arrested and charged with animal abandonment, according to a spokesperson for the SPCA Westchester. The pup, now named Rosie, has been adopted.
“We will never understand how someone could so callously abandon a defenseless animal and are so thankful that a Good Samaritan acted swiftly and rescued Rosie,” said Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s Chief Executive Officer.
Levy was arrested Tuesday, according to the SPCA.
“Had Rosie run into the street, it could have ended very badly, and she could have sustained serious injuries, or worse,” said a representative of SPCA Westchester.
