Gold worth Rs 72L seized at KIA

Kempegowda International Airport

(KIA) successfully thwarted three separate

gold smuggling

attempts on June 23, 2024.
In the first incident, a passenger was caught with

271 grams

of gold worth ₹19 lakh. The gold was meticulously concealed on the individual's body to evade detection.
The second case involved a more substantial haul, with 538.5 grams of gold worth ₹38 lakh discovered hidden under the passenger's clothing.

In the last bust, a passenger was found to have concealed 211 grams of gold paste valued at ₹15 lakh in the innerwear.
Stopping short of disclosing further details, Customs officials said they have initiated investigations into all three cases to uncover the networks and methods employed by them.
