NEW YORK (PIX11) – Frontier Airlines is offering a new upgrade that promises an empty middle seat – and for a short time, the promotion will go for just $49.

The discount will introduce the airline’s new UpFront Plus seats, which will occupy the first two rows of the plane and always include a blocked middle seat and extra legroom.

UpFront Plus upgrades will sell at the discounted price through March 20 for flights that depart between April 10 and 30, according to the airline.

“Many consumers strongly prefer a seating option that offers extra space when flying,” Frontier Airlines CEO Barry Biffle said. “UpFront Plus is a great option for those who want expanded personal space and extra comfort.”

After the promotion, the price of the upgrade will vary by flight but can sit over $100 for a one-way domestic flight.

It's the most costly of a few upgrades offered by the airline, including Preferred seats near the front of the plane and Premium seats with extra legroom and comfort.
