Flight to Amsterdam diverted to JFK after passengers served spoiled food: Delta

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Delta flight from Detroit to Amsterdam was diverted to John F. Kennedy International Airport Wednesday morning after passengers were served spoiled food, officials told PIX11 News.

The plane, with 277 passengers on board, landed at JFK around 4 a.m. It's not known how many people ate the spoiled food or if anyone got sick from it.

Delta is launching an internal investigation into the spoiled food. The FDNY treated 12 people who were on the flight, according to fire officials.

"This is not the service Delta is known for and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travels," a Delta spokesperson said.
