WOODLAND TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The New Jersey Forest Fire Service continues its fight over what is becoming one of the largest wildfires in recent memory.
Officials held a news conference Wednesday afternoon at Coyle Field Air Attack Base along Route 72 in Ocean County, not far from the wildfire.
According to New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette, the Jones Road Wildfire has spread to 11,500 acres and is 30% contained.
Officials say there has been no loss of life or property and there have been no injuries reported. All evacuations orders have been lifted. At one point, 5,000 people in the area of Lacey Township were under voluntary or mandatory evacuation orders.
JCP&L is working to restore power to roughly 25,000 customers. Fire officials instructed the de-energization for safety purposes.
