Father crashes car with 6-year-old while intoxicated on Long Island: Police

ROCKY POINT, N.Y. (PIX11) –  A father was arrested after allegedly driving while intoxicated and crashing his vehicle with his 6-year-old child inside, Suffolk County police say.

The 36-year-old man was driving down Lower Rocky Point Road on Friday when his vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed around 9:18 p.m., officials report.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the driver’s 6-year-old daughter inside with minor injuries. She was taken to the hospital and later released to family members, according to authorities. 

The 36-year-old man faces multiple charges such as violating Leandra’s Law, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, and endangering the welfare of a child.
