Family of bystander shot by NYPD 'angry,' calling for accountability

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The family of Gregory Delpeche, a bystander shot by police at a Brooklyn subway station last week, is calling for accountability.

"My cousin's fighting for his life," said a family member. "There's no reason why he should be shot."

Body-worn camera footage of the shooting was released Friday, opening new questions for activists and elected officials about the police's use of force in the shooting.

Four people, including two bystanders and a police officer, were injured in the shooting that happened after police pursued a man for fare evasion, police said.

"This was completely avoidable, and the video footage should disturb all New Yorkers," representatives of the Legal Aid Society said in a statement.
