Shahani’s family initially opposed their marriage because of his 'serial kisser' image. The actor explained that, in the past, an actor’s on-screen persona was often mistaken for their real-life character, leading Parveen’s relatives to disapprove of their relationship.
In a conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Emraan Hashmi described his marriage as “wonderful,” emphasizing the happiness and value of their 18 years together.

When discussing the lack of rumors about their relationship, he explained that before social media, people often confused his on-screen persona with his real-life personality, with some even unaware of his marital status.

Hashmi shared that his wife Parveen used to scold him frequently but was also very understanding. He acknowledged that without her support, he couldn't have taken on the roles he did. Initially, her family had reservations due to his strong on-screen image, particularly distant relatives who hadn't met him. However, their concerns were eventually resolved when they met him.

in films. He explained that it was due to his wife's influence, and he always listens to her. He mentioned that while he initially wanted to reduce such scenes, his image led producers to exploit it to please the audience. Emraan admitted that some of these scenes were unnecessary and, although they set a trend in cinema, he faced criticism for it.
When asked if his wife felt insecure about his kissing scenes, Emraan acknowledged that she did feel insecure initially. However, he added that this is no longer an issue because he no longer does those kinds of scenes.
