After a long gap, the veteran Malayalam director Kamal donned the director’s cap for the film ‘Vivekanandan Viralanu,’ which unfortunately didn’t have the expected run in cinemas. Now the comedy-drama movie starring Shine Tom Chacko in the lead is gearing up for an OTT release.

Those who have missed this Swasika starrer in theaters can tune into Aha VideoIN on February 7th. The OTT platform announced a tweet that read, “Get ready to laugh out loud! #Vivekanandanviral Premiering February 7th, only on Aha.”

Vivekanandan Viralanu - Official Trailer

‘Vivekanandan Viralanu’ marked the 100th film of the talented actor Shine. Tom Chacko and he played the role of a government employee who hides a dark side—his violent and predatory sexual urges. Despite his position in society, he repeatedly harasses and exploits those around him, particularly his wife Meera and his live-in partner Anjali. His actions don’t go unnoticed, but every time his victims attempt to fight back, he uses his influence and manipulation to escape consequences. However, fate takes a turn when Meera, Anjali, and other victims decide they’ve had enough. United by their shared trauma, they meticulously plan a way to expose Vivekanandan and ensure he faces the repercussions he has long evaded. Instead of resorting to physical violence, they choose a method that will leave a lasting impact—public humiliation.
Want to read our review before watching Kamal’s directorial? ETimes review reads, “It must be a big enough problem in Kerala that filmmakers have been making projects, from Neru to Aattam, on sexual harassment, consent, and how it is dealt with in our legal and social spaces. And while Aattam, which was much appreciated, does not offer justice to the woman in the form of punishment to the perpetrator, writer-director Kamal attempts redemption, but it feels quite haphazard. Is this a problem arising from a man looking into a woman’s issue? There is also a finesse missing in the filmmaking that we would expect from a veteran like Kamal. The second half particularly feels all over the place and doesn’t offer the satisfaction it should. The use of social media to bring out such a painful topic feels ill-thought-out and not done with the seriousness it deserves.”
