NEW DELHI: An official from the Special Cell of Delhi Police stated on Saturday that a member actively involved in the
Lawrence Bishnoi gang
and serving as a sharpshooter operates in the
Rohini
area of the national capital.
Identified as 18-year-old Pradeep Singh from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, the gangster was found in possession of two semi-automatic .32 bore pistols along with nine live cartridges, according to the police.
The official added that Virender Partap, also known as Kala Rana, recruited him via Instagram and established further contact through Bhanu Rana on the Signal App. He then trained him for engaging in criminal activities in Delhi and the National Capital Region.
His assignment involved carrying out criminal activities in Delhi.
Special commissioner of police (Special Cell) HGS Dhaliwal stated that they received specific information about the presence of Pradeep Singh, a crucial member and sharpshooter affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, in Sector 23, Rohini.
Promptly responding to the intelligence, a specialized team from the Special Cell quickly initiated action, setting up a trap in Sector 23, Rohini, resulting in the apprehension of the accused, Pradeep Singh. A criminal case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the law
Hailing from Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, Singh's family runs a grocery shop in their native village. At the age of 3, his parents sent him to live with relatives in Bikaner, Rajasthan, where he completed his education up to Grade 8
Later, he returned to his hometown and pursued his studies up to Grade 11.
In 2022, he discontinued his studies and relocated to Gurgaon, Haryana, residing with a friend. While watching Instagram reels featuring gangster Virender Pratap, alias Kala Rana, he became inspired by the criminal activities. By August 2023, he began following Kala Rana on Instagram, expressing his desire to join the gang for recognition. Subsequently, in September 2023, he initiated communication with Bhanu Rana through the Signal App under Kala Rana's directives.
As per the police, on December 30 of the previous year, Bhanu Rana assigned him the responsibility of carrying out a specific crime in Delhi within the next 7-8 days, alongside other associates. Bhanu Rana informed him that additional individuals would join him in Delhi, and the details of the target would be provided later.
Additionally, the accused took delivery of a shipment of weapons at Sector 24, Rohini. On January 3 of the current year, he was apprehended upon his arrival in Rohini for a meeting with other gang members.
