According to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's agenda, an increase in parking fees by four times is proposed when pollution levels soar to alarming levels in a bid to curb the usage of private vehicles.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will hold its session on Thursday with the possibility of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP clashing over the city's ongoing water crisis and other issues.
This will be the first meeting after new Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Kumar took over.
According to sources, at least 24 old and new proposals have been included in the MCD's agenda for discussion. This includes the recruitment of 600 gardeners and the increase of parking fees by four times when the pollution levels cross Stage-II of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the city in a bid to curb the usage of private vehicles, among others.
Key proposals for MCD meeting:
- A proposal to set up a composite plant at over Rs 570 lakh for processing undigested food and dung of slaughtered animals at the Ghazipur slaughterhouse would likely be tabled for approval at the MCD House meeting.
- The MCD is also likely to table a proposal for increasing the parking fees by four times when the pollution levels cross Stage-II of GRAP in the city.
- A proposal to recruit 600 gardeners on the contract is also on the cards. Currently, about 1,800 permanent gardeners and 2,300 gardeners on a contract basis are working in about 15,000 maintained by the civic body.
- Proposals related to the posting of data entry operators in various departments of the corporation and purchasing of medicine and surgical equipment for hospitals and dispensaries have been included in the agenda.
- A proposal to make a policy regarding recognition of a union of corporation employees has once again been included in the agenda. This proposal was also included in the general assembly meeting of the house in May.
- A proposal to extend the old contract to take forward the existing system of collecting tolls through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) at 13 toll points in Delhi has also been included in the agenda.
- A proposal to build underground multi-level car parking in New Friends Colony, Jangpura and Kalkaji in the Central Zone.
- A proposal to build a medical college on the Rajan Babu Lung and Tuberculosis Institute campus has once again been included in the agenda.
