The Oil Marketing Companies have announced a reduction in the prices of 19-kilogram commercial LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) cylinders in three metro cities from January 1.
In New Delhi, a commercial cylinder, used in various establishments such as hotels and restaurants, will cost Rs 1,755.50 from today, down from Rs 1,757.
In Mumbai, the price has been reduced to Rs 1,708.50 from Rs 1,710.
In Chennai, the price has been slashed by Rs 5. The current price is Rs 1,924, down from Rs 1,929.
Meanwhile, the commercial cylinder price in Kolkata saw a hike of 50 paise to Rs 1,869 from Rs 1,868.50.
Rates differ from state to state based on the incidence of local taxation.
However, the price of domestic LPG -- used in household kitchens for cooking purposes -- remained unchanged.
