NEW DELHI: With WWE continuing to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of pro wrestling, the question of who will succeed
John Cena
as the next face of the company looms large. According to
wrestling
legend Disco Inferno, the chosen successor may already be in their midst, and that individual is none other than
Cody Rhodes
.
On the "Keepin' It 100 Official" podcast, Disco Inferno shared his views on Cody Rhodes, asserting that WWE is grooming him to fill the shoes of John Cena.
Drawing parallels between Rhodes and the former "Face of WWE," Inferno highlighted the similarities in their public personas, such as their involvement with charitable activities like Make-A-Wish and their media-friendly roles.
"They're grooming the next John Cena. A super over baby face that checks all the boxes and looks great. He does the Make-A-Wish stuff, he does the appearances, he does the media. The John Cena spot. They've gotta replace John Cena!" Inferno expressed on the podcast.
Inferno's perspective gained traction in response to a fan question about Rhodes receiving a significant push upon his return to WWE. The fan pointed out Rhodes' victories over top stars, including
Seth Rollins
, his triumphs against
Brock Lesnar
, consecutive Royal Rumble wins, and an apparent absence of clean losses, all of which contribute to his image as the ultimate baby face.
While acknowledging the distinct paths and personas of Cena and Rhodes, the common thread that binds them is the fervent support they receive from the WWE Universe. Rhodes, known as The American Nightmare, has cultivated a passionate fanbase, drawing parallels to the admiration once bestowed upon John Cena during his heyday.
