BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A new Chipotle will replace the now-closed Ample Hills Creamery location on the edge of Prospect Park, according to a representative of the chain.

The new Chipotle location is set to open this summer on Prospect Park West. It will feature a walk-up window for digital pick-up orders, according to a representative of Chipotle.

Little remained known about the new location - but Chipotle applied for a license with the State Liquor Authority at the location, records show. A representative of Chipotle could not confirm whether alcohol would be sold at the Park Slope spot.

The prime location at the park's entrance on Bartel-Pritchard Square used to house the beloved local ice cream chain Ample Hills Creamery, which made a triumphant comeback in 2023 after declaring bankruptcy just a few years before.

Ample Hills locations in Industry City, Prospect Heights, Astoria and the Upper West Side remain open – but now without its founders Jackie Cuscana and Brian Smith at the helm, according to the couple.

The Prospect Park West location will be Park Slope’s second Chipotle store, with another on Seventh Avenue between First and Second streets.

Some locals took to social media to express mixed emotions about Chipotle moving in. Some lamented another chain in the neighborhood while others celebrated the storefront being quickly filled.

New York City has the most Chipotle locations of any city in the world with 57 storefronts, followed by Chicago with only 40.
