BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, chef Eric See has made a name for himself, designing cakes for celebrities including Beyonce, Rihanna, and Lady Gaga.
Now, See is bringing the taste of New Mexico to Brooklyn.
See opened a restaurant named Ursula in Bedford-Stuyvesant in the fall of 2020. The restaurant is named after his grandmother, who See describes as an "epitome of perseverance" and "a beacon of hope."
The authentic dishes are made with ingredients sourced from New Mexico. See says his parents ship him red and green chili pods every week and the beans used are from Navajo farms in New Mexico.
See also makes an effort to create a safe space for members of the LGBTQ+ community. "I don't think that food and culture and language is static. We are in New York where there is a lot of other ingredients, communities, cultures, and language around us."
