JERICHO, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Two women on Long Island celebrated a century’s worth of birthdays.
Edith Tweedy and Elaine Blumstein, rang in their 100th birthdays at the Bristal Assisted Living Community in Jericho on Thursday.
“I feel like I’m 21, but I don’t have the energy of a 21-year-old person, but I feel as young as that,” said Elaine Blumstein.
As native-New Yorker, Blumstein hails from the Lower East Side and worked as an executive assistant to the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company. She was also married for 52 years to a World War II Purple Heart veteran.
Tweedy is a long time Long Island resident who worked as a travel agent until she retired at 90-years-old. She has two kids, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
The pair was thankful for the warm celebration marking their milestone.
“I never felt that I would reach this age, I never did,” Tweedy said.
