Brooklyn man drowns in backyard pool on Long Island: police

SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. (PIX11) -- A Brooklyn man drowned in a backyard swimming pool out on Long Island on Friday morning, police said.

Police from the Suffolk County Police Department's first precinct responded to a 911 call to see an unresponsive person in a swimming pool. A man was found unresponsive inside a pool, police said.

Responding officers pulled the man from the pool and started CPR but were unable to revive him, authorities said.

The drowning victim, identified as 29-year-old Kenneth Murphy of Brooklyn, was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives are currently conducting a full investigation, police said.
