JAMAICA, QUEENS (PIX11) – A Queens traffic stop led to a terrorism investigation after multiple weapons were found in a ghost car on Wednesday, according to the NYPD.
Two officers looking for ghost cars stopped 27-year-old Judd Sanson's Ford Explorer with blacked-out license plates across from LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday morning.
A hatchet, swords, handcuffs, an axe, magazines loaded with bullets, a GLOCK 9mm gun, a blow torch and body armor were all discovered in Sanson's SUV, police said.
An expandable baton with "God Forgive Me" written in Arabic was also found, sources told PIX11 News. There was more writing on the weapon, which is being examined, sources said.
Sanson, who lives with his father in Jamaica, is facing a slew of weapons charges. Investigators are trying to figure out if there was a larger terrorism plot behind the cache of weapons, according to the NYPD.
Neighbors told PIX11 News that Sanson was mentally ill and thought he was a ninja.
"I think the system forgot about him," said one neighbor. "He made the machete, I know."
