Barricaded suspect stabbed man to death in Brooklyn building: NYPD

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A suspect allegedly stabbed a man to death while barricading himself in an apartment in a building in Downtown Brooklyn on Friday, police said.

Officers found the 37-year-old victim with a stab wound to the abdomen inside the housing complex at 90 Sands St. between Jay and Pearl streets at around 8 a.m., according to the NYPD. The man was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.

A dog was also stabbed at the location. The pup's condition is unknown.

The suspect ran into the building and `barricaded himself in one of the apartments, police said. It is unclear why the man went into the complex.

The suspect and another person were taken into custody at the scene, but no charges have been filed yet, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
