A number of celebrities wished Thalapathy Vijay after he announced his political debut. Music composer Anirudh Ravichander, director Atlee and filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj among more congratulated the superstar.

CELEBRITIES CONGRATULATE VIJAY

Composer Anirudh wrote on X, "Congratsss and all the best dearest @actorvijayv sir." Karthik subbaraj mentioned in a post, "Warm Welcome and All the very best (sic)." Raghava Lawrence mentioned, "Congratulations Nanba on your political entry. I pray god for your success in this new journey (sic)."

Jawan director Atlee simply wrote, "Congratulations Anna."

Vijay shared the news on February 2. He announced his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. While sharing the news, the actor also shared that he would be quitting films after doing two more movies.

Vijay will contest the 2026 elections.

VIJAY'S FULL STATEMENT

In a detailed statement, Vijay announced the party name, ideologies and his exit from cinema. His statement read, "According to me, politics is not just another job for me. It's a sacred job. Not just political heights, I understood that I need to learn the length and breadth of politics from my predecessors. I am preparing myself for it mentally. So, politics is not a hobby. It's my deepest desire. I want to involve myself completely. Hence, I will complete one more film that I committed to and become a full-fledged politician. This is how I'd pay my debts to the people of Tamil Nadu."

Thalapathy Vijay was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo. He is currently shooting for Venkat Prabhu's Greatest of All Time (GOAT).
