Arrest made after human remains found on Long Island: police

LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Police arrested a man after human remains were discovered along Montauk Highway in East Patchogue on Thursday.

The remains were located at around 4:30 p.m. near County Road 101 and taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Garry Cowell, 72, of Patchogue, was taken into custody for tampering with physical evidence and concealment of a human corpse charges, police said.
