Every year, Apple launches a new smartphone and crowds are drawn towards the new toy in town. This year, the Cupertino-based tech giant will be unveiling the iPhone 16 and while we are quite far from the launch date, rumours about the 2024 iPhone have already started floating. Until now, various rumours about the upcoming iPhones design, display and battery have surfaced. And now, as per a recent report, prototypes of the iPhone 16 Pro models have been leaked. Not only this, Apple might also introduce a new colour with the 2024 iPhone. However, we must remember that we are quite far away from the official reveal and these rumours must be taken with a pinch of salt.

With that being said, let's delve deeper in what the iPhone 16 might have in store for us all.

A MacRumors report revealed mockups of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, based on internal designs from Apple. While these prototypes are not final, there's a good chance that the actual Pro models will closely resemble these mockups.

As per the report, the design of the iPhone 16 Pro might be similar to that of its predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro. However, there are some notable differences. MacRumors suggests that the displays will be larger, featuring a capacitive Capture button. In addition to this, the 5x tetraprism telephoto camera, previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, will be available on both Pro models this year.

Earlier, reports had said that the iPhone 16 Pro (codenamed Diablo) will boast a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max (codenamed Lightning) will have a larger 6.9-inch display. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max had 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens. MacRumors also speculated that this increase in size might be to accommodate the new camera features.

When it comes to buttons, Apple reportedly explored various layouts during development but eventually settled on a familiar one. All buttons remain in their usual places, except for the addition of a new Capture button on the right side of the device.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in a recent newsletter, referred to the Capture button as "a new dedicated button for taking video. " MacRumors mentions that this button will be flush with the iPhone's frame, different from the volume and power buttons.

According to the leaked information, Apple will continue using Grade 5 Titanium, the same material used for the iPhone 15 Pro, to build the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Additionally, there are hints in Apple’s documentation about a potential introduction of a new color, although MacRumors couldn't uncover any exciting details about this new color for the iPhone 16 Pro.

Coming to the performance expectations, the iPhone 16 could be powered by the A18 series chips. Rumours suggest that while the vanilla iPhone 16 is expected to come with an A18 chipset, the Pro models could have the A18 Pro chipset variant.

It is to be noted that these all are just leaks and rumours, and Apple's final reveal could be different.
