QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – The price of the AirTrain to John F. Kennedy International Airport will be cut in half this summer, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday.

The cost of a single ride fare for the AirTrain will be $4.25 from July 1 to Sept. 2.

The fare is being reduced to encourage more people to take the AirTrain during the peak of construction activity at JFK Airport this summer.

The combination of a massive redevelopment project and a record number of travelers is expected to create traffic delays at the airport.

“With transformational construction underway at JFK, we’re taking steps to mitigate travel delays and affirm what’s always been true – there’s no better option than taking the train to the plane,” Hochul said in a statement.
