MELROSE, the Bronx (PIX11) --- The 4-month-old Bronx boy who died in August had cocaine in his system, officials said Thursday.
Authorities found Ariel Gonzalez unresponsive in his home at 707 Eagle Ave. in Melrose on Aug. 10, according to the NYPD. The boy was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved.
The child had no signs of visible trauma but the medical examiner deemed the incident a homicide on Wednesday, authorities said. The boy died of acute cocaine intoxication, according to a spokesperson for the medical examiner's office.
It was unclear how the boy ingested the drug. The investigation is ongoing.
