TUTUCORIN:
Human misery
in Tamil Nadu's
Tuticorin district
continued on Wednesday even as three more bodies were recovered from houses and a beach, taking the flood-related death toll to nine. Though floodwaters started receding, large tracts of land, including residential areas, still remained underwater. Extremely heavy rainfall on Monday had led to the floods in four southern districts of Tamil Nadu - Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, Kanyakumari and Tenkasi.
CM MK Stalin
reviewed relief measures and held a teleconference with Tuticorin and Tirunelveli district collectors and senior IAS officers deputed for relief work.
A man and his teen daughter were found dead in their house at Adhiparasakthi Nagar while a senior citizen from Pattanampudur, who fell into a wild stream and was washed into the sea, was found dead on Tharuvaikulam beach.
